Mildenhall’s greatest influence is the continuation of her mother’s relationship with nature, which enables her to maintain a strong link to her past and Greek heritage. Mildenhall works with a very process based mentality, driven by the nature of printmaking itself. She works in an experimental mind-frame, and allows this to direct the work making it post-visualisation in nature. Mildenhall collaborates with other local artists and community members, which enriches her overall practice. Her work speaks clearly using a mainly image or representation based language, and a refined colour pallet.
Having studied at both the University of South Australia and Flinders University, Mildenhall has a strong technical based practice, utilising traditional processes such as Etching, Relief and Chine Colle, as well as alternative techniques such as embroidery. Mildenhall’s work has been featured in local printmaking exhibitions, such as Botanica 2016, and she is organising a charity fundraising print exchange. Mildenhall’s work has also been displayed at Intersect Gallery, an emerging contemporary space in Adelaide.
Mildenhall’s collective body of work forms a comprehensive compilation of not only her life experiences, but also records of new encounters or observations. With an overwhelmingly apparent connection to the natural world, her work continues to question our own relationship with our environment, as well as presenting exquisite interpretations of Gaia (Mother Nature).
